"Computers have made the world a better place”

Whether our life has been more and more comfortable every day and it has benefited us, but as the technology accelerates the environment impact also increases.
I want to say that there are some people claim technology is creating much more merits to help anybody, on the other hand, some people contradict that technology has produced bad effects to their life.
For example, the computers are a really good technology because it provides a lot of solutions to our needs, like the contact with our friends or family around the world, helping life’s, information that we don’t find in the encyclopedias, or instant information, etc.

Another positive factor is with the computer you can save paper, because with the electronic e-mail, we don’t need to cut down a lot of trees.
On the other hand, is an energy spend because all families in the developing world have a computer in their home. Also, some people is against with pc because they think that it deprive to do a lot of things that years before people do without computer, for example calculations, letters…
As well, some experts opined that computer also cause the loss sight.

But…What are we doing without pc?

We came to the conclusion, that the computers are the important technology in our society, because all of companies, schools, reference library… needs this fabulous technology to work correctly. Our problem is that we’re got into bad habits.

Hi guys! Let’s get started. Good morning ladies and gentlemen.
We are Neus and Marina as you know.

Slide 2:
In this oral presentation we are going to talk about Love.
At first about different types of love in Pride and Prejudice: arranged marriage (Mr. Collins), love at first sight (Mr. Bingley) and hate becomes love (Mr. Darcy). Then we’re going to talk about love actually outside the film and inside the film.

Arranged Marriage (Mr. Collins)
Let’s begin at the beginning; we want to say we have chosen this order because this list goes to according to height HAAIT of Pride and Prejudice.
Well, everybody knows what is an arranged marriage. In many communities, the match is selected by relatives or a matchmaking agent (“celestina”), maybe.
On the one hand, the traditional arranged marriage is decided in the first meeting. there is no possibility of courtship. (noviazgo) On the other hand, in Pride and Prejudice we have the example of Mr. Collins and Charlotte Lucas; it’s different because the relatives haven’t got influence on this marriage.

Love at first sight (Mr. Bingley)
Well, we decided that Jane and Mr. Bingley leading role in this type of love, because is the only love who start in the first moment and finish very good, like a film.I say like a film, because it’s very unusual find a love at first sight, it’s more common to find this in the films, novels…so in the fiction, not in the reality, but well, always there are exceptions like all.
In this slide, you can see two moments in the film, which was very important for this couple.This picture represented one of this first stare, and this second is when Mr.Bingley proposed marriage with Jane.

Hate becomes love (Mr. Darcy)
In my opinion, this kind of love is very sweet; you can see the example of Mr. Darcy and Lizzie, don’t you? But I prefer love at first sight, well insignificant details.
What’s more? Ah, I have put this photo because it’s one of the best moments in the film, when Mr. Darcy proposed other time to get married with Elisabeth.

Platonic love:
Now, we’d want to talk about different type of actually love.
At first I’m going to talk a little bit about platonic love.
When we think about platonic love, we normally think about actors, pop starts…well popular people. Why? Because we relate platonic love with impossible people to obtain.For girls, for example, this platonic love sometimes is Brad Pitt (before when he was very young, and also now), Leonardo Dicaprio (overcoat when he acted in Titanic), Orlando Bloom, Ricky Martin, etc. And for boys the typical platonic love is Eva Mendez, Angelina Jolie, Keira knightley...
To finish, we’d like to say that Chad Michael Murray is our platonic love. If you watch the photo you can see that he’s good-looking, attractive, sexy, handsome, etc.

Unrequited love (Definitely, maybe)
Have you ever watched “Definitivamente, quizás”? It’s a comedy film about love, there’s a father who is in a midst of a divorce. He has a daughter. One day, she questions him about his life before marriage; for that, he told her a lot of kinds of love: the love romantic, the unrequited love, patterned love, the lost love…
Well, an unrequited love is the worst love, you know. But don’t worry about that because there’s a lot of fish in the sea.

Passionate love (Endless love and Ghost):
-Passionate love (Endless love and Ghost):This film, is a clear example to show passion.The story is about one girl and one boy who are really fall in love. At first all comes perfectly until the girl’s father is angry with this love situation and brakes they love story.The boy resist this drama and he never surrender to fight for her.
-Another film which shows this passion, is for example Ghost, because in this film, the passion that feel the girl for her died lover persist every day.

Love between opposites (Grease)
There are a lot of films that speak about this kind of love like: Grease, A walk to remember…
However the better example in love between opposites is Grease; he’s the well-known and she’s the unpopular girl. Then, they fell in love to each other.

Well, Now I talk about my oral presentation.

When I’m doing this, I feel very nervous, stressed and I have fear, and the fear is the most worst, because when you feel this, you can talk bad, you can stammer, sweat, etc.
So, in my first oral presentation last year, I felt these previous adjectives that I have said, but it has turned out good.In my second oral presentation two years ago, I done it with Neus, and we talk about adolescence, it resulted very good.
Also, last year we done it together but didn’t resulted very well, because we didn’t have a lot of time to prepared it.
This year, my oral presentation also with Neus, resulted different. Our first, it was better than the last year, because we felt more confident with the topic (Differents types of love).
But well, I think that I always have fear in front of the public, maybe is a social phobia :S

So…for this reason, I decide that in the next oral presentation I’ll take “valeriana” to calm my nerves… and I hope that like this my second oral presentation will be better.

In USA, the popular new is related with Obama, the new American president.

His daughters, Malia and Sasha have been invited to visit the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana and take part in one of their chapters. Their answer was: "OMG!!! YES!!! no-way-this-is-so-unbelievable - I-have-to-call-everyone-RIGHT-NOW - what-will-I-wear - I-can't-believe-it!"

Billy Ray Cyrus, the real-life father of Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) and her TV father for her character as well, said that Obama children probably will because the invitation is there.

Also we know that “The Hannah Montana” film comes out in April, and the chapter that will show Malia ans Sasha also comes out in April, but we don’t know certainly, it’s a secret.

Mama mia the movie

I Got a little excited when I saw the Mamma Mia! trailer in a movie recently.
Before I listened about this famous musical, but I never saw this. When the film was published in this august I didn't think twice to go to cinema.
The musical and the movie based on the songs of successful pop group ABBA.
It was released in Greece, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, also in Sweden, the Philippines, the United States and Canada, and finally in France and in Israel.

The musical consist about a young girl, Sofi (Amanda Seyfried), and her mother live in Greece and Sofi prepare her marriage.
In this period, Sofi discover a little secret about her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep). This secret was that when her mother was 17 years old, she was with three differents men in one mounth. For this reason she didn't know wich of them was Sofi's father.
At the end of the film for me is very exiting, because all three men will be Sofi's father and the main caracter didn't get married with her boyfriend because she's very young ans she wants to sail with her boy in their boat, and her mum get married with her adolescent lover, Sam (Pearse Brosnan).

Hi Lourdes,

I’m Marina Julià and I am going to explain things about me because it’s possible that you don’t remember me very well.
Well, I was born on 27th of April, I am Taurus and for this reason I’ve got a strong character, I’m very stubborn. I think that I’m a lover girl, enthusiastic, strong, and studious. I suffer stress at school, but I’m good person. I belive in phenomena successors, for example, spirits, reincarnation, tarot, etc, and I like it, but I suppose that you don’t remember one redaction that I did in 4rt ESO about this matter because you have had a lot of students and it’s normal.
So, as I am a lover girl I’m scared with relationships, because I can hurt and they can hurt me. When I feel sad for studies, love or the other things, I dance, because the dance is my hobby. When I was little, in the gym of my mum I started funky and I love practise it. I hope that in the future I’ll have a funky course in USA, because in there, there are funky origins. And at winter I will study for get a lawyer’s office.
Now, I practise esbart, it’s a mixture of Catalan traditional dance and contemporary ballet.
And another matter that I want to talk is about this summer, in this period I danced esbart in different towns and in Castelló d’Empúries, also I went to discos, beach and other places with my French boyfriend and their friends. In September I went to Palma de Mallorca with my family only 4 days, but in this little time we had a lot of things, for example visit a lot of palaces, restaurants, beaches and shopsJ.
And to finish, I hope to pass 2n of Batxillerat because its just a third day in the High School and I’m stressed :S

Observing your portfolio, can you see an improvement on your level of English since September 2007? Where, for example?
Well, in my opinion I have the same level than September 2008, but I also learn more vocabulary. On the one hand I want to say, that last years I withdraw more good marks than this year, and this dishearten me with my English.On the other hand I improve my level to writing in portfolio and my blogger because I use the dictionary and for this I learn more new vocabulary.

Which activity best shows your level of English?
I think that the best activity that shows my level is the oral presentations because in there you show your knowledge, your pronunciation, your conjugations, etc. But I also think that teachers must to take into our nerves.

Which activities were really USEFUL for you to improve your English? Why?
The best activity was the blog, because in there you can write liberty and its better. If you write about an interesting concept for you, you are more motivated to search information and explain it.

Which activities did you not find useful to learn English? Why not?
It seems to me that do exercise only in home to homework it’s not enough, because after to do this exercise we need to know theory and later we can do the practice good.And also, we can’t learn the theory and practice in the last time. I think this, and I’m sure that isn’t only my opinion, but in class I need practice more times the grammar.

Which activities did you enjoy doing and would like to do again next year?
I would like to do the activities on language classroom next year, because you can use this time to doing blog, talk in English, preparing dialogues, etc.
But I think that, if we do blog and portfolio next year, it must be good that we could use time class to do this activities.

Well, now I talk about my third oral presentation. In my opinion it was normal, and I still thinking that my first oral presentation was better than my second and my third, because I hasn’t got my paper with me and I don’t read, but in the other presentations I feel more nervous and I take my paper, and so… If I don’t remember the words I read it.

Also I feel fear when in front of me there are a lot of people who listen my arguments, I’m very shy in this situation.

But well, it’s only my opinion, because I have the same mark in the first, second and third oral presentations.

Finally, I hope to improve with my pronunciation and in my next one I will use more connectors and time expressions.

We would focus in breast cancer because few years ago, my mother had it. Well, I’m going to star to explain this disease:
Less than 10% of breast cancer cases are genetically inherited. However, most women diagnosed with breast cancer don’t have a family history of this disease.

First thing first I want to say that many people think that only young females have bulimia, but It’s wrong. It is true that there are many more women than men: in fact, 9 out of 10 people with bulimia are women. But bulimia cans affect other kinds of people like: men, older women…
There are different factors cause bulimias:
- Culture. Women in the U.S. have pressure to be very thin.
- Families. Many people with bulimia have sisters or mothers with bulimia.
- Life changes or stressful events. Traumatic events.
- Psychology.
- Biology.

ANOREXIA:
It is the decreased sensation of appetite, the fault is a psychological problem or mental disorder. Anorexics see a fat person when they look in the mirror. This people don’t see the tremendous physical and emotional damage that they have got, so they continue to diet, and over-exercise/forced exercise.

There are many possible causes for a decreased appetite, which of them may be harmful for the person.
- Some people use medicaments, antidepressants for example, to suppress appetite.
- Also they drink a lot of water because like this, they aren’t hungry.
- A lot of teenagers, when they arrive in home, say that they already eat in school, and later they don’t eat to lunch or dinner.
- Etc.

No, I disagree with this sentence, because I think that there are a lot of people who haven’t learnt to respect the world.
In my opinion, nowadays it's more difficult respect the nature, the environment, endangered species, abuse, mistreats, etc. Also, a lot of industries complicate the situation because they make new technologies which pollute the atmosphere, causing a disease, climate change or global warming.
In addition, there are who treat badly and abuse his wife or her handsome, but is more common that the men ill-treat the women, or there are crazy people who kidnap kids and also abuse them.
All this people haven’t learnt to respect our world and in particular haven’t learnt to respect women.
Another example is the pollution, a lot of people don’t respect nature, they cut so many trees, they make so many industries, and they don’t recycle at their home and other things too general.

All in all, It seems that it is going to get worse like, I would to agree with this sentence, but I see the world and I feel sad with this few respects.

This Singer that you can see in the photo is the new Eurovision winner and his name is Dima Bilan. This concursant represented Russia and in his actuation there are a violinist, Edvin Marton who played his Stradivarius and an artistic skater, Evgeni Plushenko,who skated on artificial ice on stage as part of the song performance.

Well, Now I talk about my orals presentations. When I have do this, I feel very nervous, stressed and I have fear, and the fear is the most worst, because when you feel this, you can talk bad, you can stammer, you can sweat, etc.
So, in my first oral presentation last year, I felt these previous adjectives that I have said, but it has turned out good.
In my second oral presentation last year, I done it with Neus, and we talk about adolescence, it resulted very good.
This year, my oral presentation resulted different. My first, it was better than the second, because I was feeling very nervous and all time I think that I do high school degree, and for this I must do very well.
And finally, my second also was with Neus, and we talk about California State, I like so much this oral presentation, but it was normal, because when I done this, I have got my paper of oral presentation and I read a little bit.
I hope that in my third oral presentation it will be better.

A green landscape, I like this colour, is the hope colour, and it give me security, serenity and peace.If you see this picture, you can see that the colour green is the predominant, for example in the green leaves, green leaves of a tree and green grass.
Also there are pink flowers on the left of the photo and on right there are purple flowers.
These two different colours, pink and purple, give you something especially.

I'm Marina Julià and I am going to explain things about me. Well, I was born in 27th of April, I am Taurus and for this reason I've got a strong character, I'm very stubborn. I think that I'm a lover girl, enthusiastic, strong, studious, I suffer stress at school, but I'm good person. I belive in paranormal successors, for example, spirits, reincarnation, tarot, etc, and I like it. So, as I am a lover girl I'm scared with relations ships, because I can to hurt and they can hurt me. When I feel sad for studies, love or the others things, I dance, because the dance is my hobby. When I was little, in the gym of my mum I started funky and I love practise it.

In the film:

There is only one Victor Frankenstein brother (William).

Victor met Henry Clerval in the university, and in the book, they are childhood friends. Also, in the book, Henry died, and in the film he didn’t die.

Elisabeth has got brown hair, and in the book she is blond and blue-eyed.

Felix and Agatha, the wood family, in the film they are a marriage, and in the book they are brothers.

Frankenstein has got different colour eyes, and he measure 2.5 m long, when in the book he hasn’t this characteristics.

Since I was child I have searched the ideal or perfect man, who is pretty, attractive, good person, romantic, understanding and more adjectives, but particularly that is polite.
In my opinion education is really important in this world, because if you aren’t a polite person you can’t go anywhere.
Well, I think that I haven’t found this perfect boy yet, and I don’t know if I will find him, but I know that I have met a special boy.
I prefer not to say his name because is bit personal.
So, first, I want to say that he’s a great friend of mine; I think that it’s very important that we’re good friends, because for this reason we have more confidence.
He’s tall, thin and green-eyed and he’s got a sexy look. He’s got short brown hair and he’s quite good-looking.
He is really extroverted, he’s never embarrassed and sometimes he ashames me, but I like it, because I laugh a lot. He’s always got a good mood and it’s contagious.
On the other hand he also is a reserved and quite mysterious person, because when you look at him, you don’t know what he thinks in this moment, he has got a peculiar face.
One thing that I don’t like about he is that him thinks too much all things, but I suppose that this way he doesn’t make so many mistakes.

In this film success that Gary and Brooke are mismatched couples who at first they were very good and fall in love but 2 years ago having a lots fight, and then Brooke has to decide break-up her relationship, because, Gary is a lazy man, and he doesn’t help his girlfriend to clean house, etc.Later, their friends give they some advices, in their opinion the best advice are send the flat but Gary and Brooke don’t want left the flat, and for this reason, they decided to share home, and in this moment they have got more troubles.
In the end they are confused and you think that they come back again, but in actually they are only friends.
This film has got many comedic moments and it reflects you very well the reality, I like very much, because in a lot of films success that the end is good, and in this film the end is “bad”, it’s more really. It’s very funny and I recommend all of people.

Hi gueys!
I’m Marina, I’m 16 years old and when I borned I lived in Empuriabrava. I tell us about my hobby (DANCE).I related my life with dance, because my mum is a gymnastic and she teach me a lot of dances.When I was 4 or 5 years old, my mum bought a gym in Figueres, and for this reason I started practised dance.
I did different types of dance:

Jazz: is the first and the relaxest dance that I practised. My ex jazz group used this music that you can listen for one dance, it’s a beautiful song.
Aerobic: My mum loves this, she has practised aerobic all of her life, and she teachs me very well. Also, when I was 6 years I did aerobic competitions and I won a cup, in Castelló d’Empúries pavilion.
Hip-Hop: I practise this with funky, is slower than funky, and the music is similar that rap.
Step: Sometimes I practise step in Club Nautic because my mum is the teacher, and I love her class.
Esbart: in this moment, I do esbart in Castelló d’Empúries with my friends. A lot of people things that we always do a typical catalan dance, but it is false, we can do this typical dance and also do a contemporary ballet, but in my opinion I like more rhythmical dance than esbart.
Funky: is my favourite dance, I started at 6 or 7 years old. I did a funky competitions in different towns with my funky group. Unluckly, my mum send her gym and I leaft funky.

Now, I explain more funky things.Funky is a dance of American black people, in 1970 funky music arised and after that, they made the dance. In 1996 this inside in Spain, it was very famous, also now is very well known. Funky has got any inconvenient, for example, backache and you can have very problems with your knees.
But is funny practise this. Now I put a video with a funky competition.In the other hand, there are funky tonight, Koreans people practise this all of time, is very popular in their countries. Sometimes, my friends and I play with this machine; it’s very funny, but difficult. Also have a video for this dance.I would relate funky with a film, Save the last dance. In this film success that one girl danced ballet and she met a black boy, he taught she about Funky, and she mixed funky with ballet contemporary. They did a complicated and fantastic dance.

In my opinion, this film is one of the best and I recommended.

A SHIVERING NIGHT

One year ago we had a terrible night, we were in Neus’ home, because we were celebrating her birthday. We went to the church and there we felt a strange, cold and humid sensation, that ran throught all our body. We got worried and for this reason, we went to Neus’ house.
Alter a while, we turned on the TV and it suddenly was turned off, we don’t know that happened. As we were going up the stairs a black cat was going down.
Neus didn’t have a black cat…
Marina had bad vibrations in Neus’ house, but Neus thought it was a coincidence.
Later,we went to sleep and…

PUUUUUM!!!!!!!!

Marina: What¨s this?

Neus: What?

Marina: the noise!

Neus: Marina…I think it’s your imagination! I didn’thear the noise.

Marina: Okay…you’ll manage! I go the bathroom.

As Neus was sleeping and Marina was in the bathroom, the noise come back and Neus was frightened because she saw a spirit.
Then, Neus saw that the spirit was her grandmother, and she invited Neus to play cards.
When Marina arrived she looked at them with an amazed face, she didn’t believe that Neus and her grandmother spirit were playing cards!!!
Finally Marina won the card game, neus believe in spirits and the following Halloween we come back to play an other game.

Dear Sir,

We watched a TV programme "l'hora de l'alcalde" and we are writing in reply to the words that you said. The TV programme was interesting, but we don't think that all of your opinions are true.

On the one hand, we agree that the town needs more money to new projects: reparing the pavilion; making summer parties; build public liverpool, etc

On the other hand, we disagree that you can't cancel the carnival and the others parties.

Secontly we don't agree that the students have to wear a uniform in the higth school because it causes diferent conseguences:- expenses problems: we ofen have to wash up the uniform because the students have to wear it all the days.

- If everybody wears the some clothes, the hght school with be boring.

- Normally, the students don't like the uniform, because it is ofen ugly.

- Not everybody can pay the uniform.
